Upload and Download Speed Capping Off at 54 Mbps
How many connection is made to the AP? What is the slowest device? Did you do a aqueduct survey and come across what aqueduct is least congested? I recommend inssider three.one.2.1 if you lot have not.

Does your connection link say 54 Mbps or is that the transfer charge per unit y'all are getting?
What I am thinking is that your wireless card is but 1x1, so yous only go 1 data stream and the speeds you are seeing are right on.
OR, your network carte is only 802.11g capable.

NIC driver wireless way setting?

Sometimes when a slower device connects, information technology drags down everyone else's connection speed.

@Harry: For testing purposes I only have the two laptops connected to the AP
@dpaul: when I log in the laptop it says 54 mb/south and signal is excellent (bginfo says 54 as well) 1x1 card? How can I tell?

Then I should exist able to go faster correct?

... Are y'all using WEP? 802.11n doesn't support WEP over 54mbit, which is a good matter!

Yes. Are these APs connected to a controller? If so, which one?

Actually yes WEP-128. I too found this - the 8260 is ac capable only the highest wireless mode information technology shows on the laptop is thou?? guys I take to run get my son I'll check back here in the morning (or tonight if I can)

Yeah, get off WEP.. WEP has been publicly compromised for at least fifteen years now.
You lot want WPA2-AES, or if this is a business organisation connection, strongly adopt WPA2-Enterprise, but you'll need a Radius server for that.
WPA using TKIP has holes of its own, and so WPA2-AES with a long passphrase. 64 characters isn't crazy.

Use WPA2-PSK with AES. Anything less is not even remotely secure, and using WEP or TKIP volition limit it to 54Mbps.

CCMP is AES-based. Apply the bottom one.

WPA2-CCMP is what you want, just a dissimilar proper noun for AES.

When I select the bottom one information technology asks for a central but it doesn't have some of my keyboard presses???

At that place aren't whatsoever ASCII characters that are disallowed AFAIK. Might be a bug with your controller.

Found this - non certain what MCS0 and MCS15 are but I know the HT40 theoretically doubles your throughput by using 2 next channels at once. I can't effigy out how to admission this setting.

I establish the HT settings under smart rf settings but information technology won't let me change information technology. Information technology complains that I am entering an invalid value just I am picking the setting from a drop down (tried all with the aforementioned result).
